The Dexter boys’ cross country team had its strongest showing of the season at the biggest Invitational in the state Saturday as the Dreadnaughts finished 2nd at the Portage Invitational.
The Portage Invite featured several top 15 teams in Division 1 and the fifth-ranked team from Ohio.
The Dreads finished with 127 points in the race won by Ann Arbor Pioneer with 102.
Nathan Larson and Owen Huard set PR’s and finished seventh and ninth in 16:00.3 and 16:06.8 to lead the Dreadnaughts.
The Dreadnaught bunched three runners together when Liam Butler finished 37th in 16:49.4, Nick Mckenzie 38th in 16:49.8, and Lucas Betzoldt 39th in 16:51.4.
Seth read was 83rd in 17:21 and Sam Melvin 121st in 17:50 rounded out the top seven for Dexter.
Thirty-Six teams and 251 runners competed in the race.
