Dexter Boys’ Cross Country Qualifies for State Finals

The Dexter boys’ cross country team continued its amazing season last week by qualifying for the Division 1 state finals at MIS Saturday.

The Dreadnaughts, ranked 5th,  qualified by finishing third at the tough Brighton Regional. That also featured third-ranked Brighton and 6th ranked Skyline.

Brighton finished with 54 points, to clip Skyline with 69 and the Dreadnaughts 79.

Nathan Larson finished 5th in 16:01.4 and Owen Huard 6th in 16:02 to lead the Dreads. Lucas Betzoldt was 16th in 16:29, followed by Nick McKenzie 25th in 16:48. Liam Buller was 27th in 16:53, Seth Read 33rd in 17:05, and Sam Melvin 37th in 17:16.

The Dreadnaughts will run in the Division 1 race at MIS at 2:10 PM on Saturday.

The girls had a rough day, finishing 11th with 248 points in the race won by Pinckney with 29.

Anna Varitek led Dexter with a 28th place finish in 20:25 followed by Jacquelynn TerBush 38th in 20:33.

Faith Jones was 54th in 21:04, Jessica Hoehn 61st in 21:20, Hannah  McComas 67th in 21:44, Allison Berkholz 70th in 21:46, and Megyn Scafasci 82nd in 22:26.
