Dexter Boys’ XC Second, Girls Fourth at SEC Jamboree

The Dexter cross country teams had strong showings at the second SEC Jamboree of the season last week at Adrian.

The Division 1 sixth-ranked boys team finished second behind Division 2 top-ranked Chelsea.

The Dreadnaughts finished with 44 points, behind Chelsea’s 25.

Nathan Larson came home in second place, just two seconds behind the leader with a time of 16:50.

Owen Huard finished 6th in 17:28 and Nick McKenzie 11th in 17:50. Seth Read was 12th in 17:58, Noah Hayter 13th in 18:04, and Conner Kolka 22nd in 18:20.

The girls finished with 100 points in the race won by state-ranked Pinckney with 38.

Anna Varitek led the Dreadnaughts with a 10th place finish in 21:39, followed by Jacquelynn TerBush in 13th in 21:55.

Jessica Hoehn was 17th in 22:21, Megyn Scafasci 29th in 22:59, Faith Jones 31st in 23:06, Allison Berkholz 33rd in 23:11, and Taylor Forshee 44th in 24:07.

The girls ran at the Ann Arbor Running Company Legends Classic Saturday and finished 5th with 54 points in the race won by Flushing with 64.

Varitek led Dexter with a 15th place finish in 20:40, while TerBush was 17th in 20:49. Hoehn was 23rd in 21:05, Jones 45th in 21:40, Berkholz 58th in 22:06, Sophia Grant 84th in 23:02, and Amanda Hubert 95th in 23:24.
