Dexter Comes Up Short Against State Ranked Ypsilanti

The Dexter boys’ basketball team gave 3rd ranked Ypsilanti all they could handle, but came up short in a 52-43 loss to the Grizzlies.

The Dreadnaughts stayed close in a very slow scoring first half. The teams were tied at 4-4 after one quarter and Ypsilanti held a 13-10 lead at halftime.

The offenses came to life in the third, with the Grizzlies extending their lead to 28-20 with a 15-10 run in the third.

For three quarters, the game was a defensive struggle, but the fourth quarter was anything but that as both teams doubled up their scores in an offensive explosion.

Dexter put 23 points on the board in the fourth, but could not hold off Ypsilanti. The Grizzlies scored 24 in the period as they sealed the win from the free throw line.

Randy Gesell led Dexter with 11 points, while Drew Bishop added eight. Grant Katcher and Michael Bradshaw scored seven each for the Dreads.
