Dexter Community Orchestra Gazebo Concert

From Andrew Thomas

How better to celebrate summer than with a concert in Dexter’s Monument Park?

The Dexter Community Orchestra’s annual “Gazebo Concert” has long been a highlight of the season.

Friday, June 15, Music Director Anthony Elliott and Assistant Music Director Abigail Alwin will lead the orchestra in a family-friendly program of popular favorites. The concert starts at 7pm but be sure to arrive early to find a good spot for blankets and lawn chairs.

The program includes a salute to our armed forces, familiar movie themes from “Superman”,” Jurassic Park”,” Raiders of the Lost Ark” and the James Bond series, a “Sound of Music” sing-along, and of course a generous helping of marches by John Philip Sousa, including everyone’s favorite piccolo showpiece, “The Stars and Stripes Forever”.

As always, the concert is free. Donations to the orchestra will be gratefully accepted.
