Dexter Community Players will present Evil Dead the Musical, October 24,25,26,30,31 and November 1 and 2 at Copeland Theater, 7714 Ann Arbor St. in Dexter.
“Evil Dead has become a tradition for Dexter Community Players. It is our 4th time we will be performing the show and the last before we have to leave Copeland theater,” says Abby Briggs, Director of Dexter Community Players.
Based on Sam Raimi’s 80’s cult classic, Evil Dead tells the tale of 5 college students who travel to a cabin in the woods and accidentally unleash an evil force. Although it may sound like a horror story, it’s not! The songs are hilariously campy and the show is bursting with music, fun and a liberal amount of blood.
The show is directed by Jason Smith and musically directed by Jonathan Sills. Tickets range in cost from $15 to $25. The first few rows of the theater will be a “splatter zone” where audience members can get up front and personal with the fun gore involved in this production. Mature audiences are recommended.
“We are extremely proud of all of our excellent cast and crew. We are especially proud of our Special Effects Manager: Dave Hettmer who worked on the original movies,” says Abby. “This is a show you don’t want to miss!”
