Dexter Girls Roll Past Lincoln

The Dexter girls’ basketball team improved to to 2-2 in the SEC White after rolling past Ypsilanti Lincoln Friday, January 11.

The Dreadnaughts jumped out to a quick 16-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back.

Dexter scored 21 in the second quarter for a 37-14 halftime lead and the rout was on. The lead would grow to 38 after three as they allowed Lincoln to score just two points in the quarter.

Sydney Pnacek led the Dreadnaughts with 15 points.

Livvy Mellifont added 13 points and Alayna Babut chipped in with 12. Kylee Niswonger finished with eight, Kaila Simpson six, Kendall Rosevelt and Shannon Schoch four each, and Kyleigh Valentine two.

The Dreads dropped a tough 34-26 decision to Jackson earlier in the week.

Jackson jumped to a 12-5 lead after one, but the Dreads defense cracked down, allowing the Vikings just two points in the second as Dexter cut the lead to 14-11.

The Dreadnaughts outscored Jackson 13-7 in the third for a 24-21 lead, but they went ice cold in the fourth as the Vikings outscored them 13-2 to pull out the win.

Valentine led the Dreads with seven points, followed by Simpson with six. Kylie Cabana finished with five, Babut and Rosevelt three each, and Niswonger two.

Dexter travels to Ypsilanti Tuesday night at 7:00 and to rival Chelsea Friday night at 5:30 PM.
