Dexter Girls Struggle Against Bedford





The Dexter girls’ basketball team could not overcome a slow start and fell to undefeated Bedford 36-22 Friday, January 4.

After two weeks off, the Dreadnaughts struggled n the opening quarter as the Mules jumped to a 14-2 lead.

The Dexter offense began to awaken in the second behind a pair of baskets from Liz Mellifont, but Bedford continues its hot hooting and built a 27-9 lead at the half.

Kendall Rosevelt scored five points in the third for Dexter ,but they could not cut into the ules lead and trailed 34-16 after three.



Alyana Babut scored four points in the fourth for the Dreas as they outscored the Mules 6-2, but it was too late.

Rosevelt led the Dreads with five points, while Babut and Mellifont each had four. Kayla Simpson finished with three points, Kylie Cabana and Sydney Pnacek two each.

Before the holiday break, the Dreadnaughts picked up their first win in the SEC White by downing Adrian 50-24.

Pnacek led Dexter with 12 points, while Simpson added 10. Rosevelt finished with eight points, Cabana seven, Kylee Niswonger six, Babut four, Kyleigh Valentine and Mellifont two each.
