Dexter Girls Win Second Straight

The Dexter girls’ basketball team finished SEC White play by taking down Adrian 52-39 Tuesday night.

The win for the Dreadnaughts was their second straight and improved their overall record to 8-9 overall and they finished 7-7 in the SEC White.

The Dreadnaughts took control of the game against Adrian early, outscoring the Maples 19-6 in the opening quarter.

Kylee Niswonger put up seven points in the quarter to lead the early Dreads run.

Dexter extended the lead to 28-13 at the break behind a five-point second quarter by Sydney Pnacek, who finished with 10 first-half points.

Adrian held tough in the third, but the Dreads outscored them 13-12 to carry a 41-25 lead into the final period.

The Maples tried to make a run in the fourth, outscoring the Dreadnaughts 14-11, but it wasn’t enough.

Pnacek led Dexter with 13 points, followed by Niswonger with 10.

Kaila Simpson finished with eight points, Kylie Cabana six, Alayna Babut four, Kayla Rivers three, and Kendall Rosevelt, Maddi Valentine, and Shannon Schoch two each.

The Dreadnaughts travel to Division 4 top-ranked Adrian Lenawee Christian Saturday.
