The Dexter hockey team hockey team won for the fourth time out of five tries as the Dreadnaughts blanked Ann Arbor Huron 8-0 Saturday, January 5.
Jack Fawcett and Shay Ohtonen scored goals 11 seconds apart six minute into the first period to give the Dreadnaughts a 2-0 lead.
Huron came close to cutting into the lead late in the period but Dexter goaltender Kris Eberly made a nice sliding save on a 2 on 1 break to keep it 2-0 after one.
The Dreadnaughts blew the game open in the second with four goals.
With 14:15 left in the second, Alex Mills flipped a shot over the shoulder of the Huron goalie into the corner of the net to make it 3-0 Dexter.
A short time later Trevor Eisele took a pass and crossed in front of the net and wristed it home for a 4-0 lead. Dylan Fox then found a loose puck in a scramble in fron of the net and knocked it in to make it 5-0 and Mills would score his second of the game to make it 6-0 after two periods.
Early in the third, Dalton Wright ripped a shot in from the blue line to make it 7-0.
Huron tried to turn things around, but Eberly came u with several big saves to keep the River Rats off the scoreboard.
Brendan Busdeker ended the game with a mercy when he flipped a shot in from in front of the net with 2:10 left in the third.
The win improved the Dreadnaughts record to 3-2 in
