Dexter Lacrosse Splits Pair of Games

The Dexter boys’ lacrosse team opened 2018 splitting a pair of games. The Dreadnaughts kicked off the season with an exciting 11-10 overtime win against DeWitt.

Dexter jumped to a quick 5-1 lead after one quarter, only to have the Panthers battle back to take the lead at the half.

The regular game was tied at 10-10 after four quarters sending the match into overtime. Jasper Howell scored the game-winner for the Dreadnaughts.



Mason Loudermilk led Dexter with four goals. Gabe Waldrup had two goals and two assists, while Howell and Ryan Lotz finished with two goals each. Cam Palmer added a goal and Evan Chapell picked up an assist. Cooper Howatt made 15 saves in net for the Dreadnaughts.

The Dreads played shorthanded Friday night as a lot of the team had left for spring break and they came up short in an 11-4 loss to Canton.

Canton jumped to a 9-0 halftime lead and cruised from there.

Dexter tried to rally in the second half, outscoring Canton 4-2, but it wasn’t enough.

Waldrup led the team with three goals, while Loudermilk recorded one. Howatt made 10 saves in net.
