The Dexter boys’ basketball team bounced back afrom a tough loss in the seimfinals of the Hartland Holiday tournament to defeat South Lyon East 62-40 Saturday.
After both teams played in the tournament semifnals Friday night, both teams were sluggish to start with a 10:30 AM tip-off Saturday morning.
Easts game against Hartland went into double-overtime and didn’t finish until nearly 10:00 PM and 12 hours later they were tipping off against the Dreadnaughts.
Dexter took advantage of the fatigue and jumped to an 11-5 lead after one quarter.
Coltin Parachek scored eight points in the second as the Dreads slowly began to pull away, outscoring East 22-17 for a 33-22 halftime lead.
The Dreadnaughts lead continued to grow in the third behind eight points from Antwan Ficklen and Dexter led by 21 after three 54-33 and cruised to the win.
Ficklen led Dexter with 17 points, followed by Parachek with 13. Marco Lucchesi finished with 12 points, while Andy Durand added 10. Ryan Trinkle finished with five points, Chad Robards three, Caden Doll and Zach Koone two each.
Dexter will return to action January 8 when it travels to Jackson for an SEC White matchup.
