The cold weather did not cool the hot bats of Dexter as the softball team pounded out 16 hits and rolled to a 10-0 win over Machester Saturday.
Livvy Mellifont made it 2-0 Dexter in the first with a home run to right field.
The Dreadnaughts added four more runs in the second. The big hits were an RBI double by Jenna Wagenschutz and an RBI triple by Mellifont for a 6-0 lead.
Sam Sutton kept the Dutchmen bats quiet with seven strikeouts and allowing one hit in four innings of work.
The score stayed 6-0 until the sixth when the Dreads scored three times on a two-run single by Mack Gordon and an RBI double by Mellifont for a 9-0 lead. The scoring wrapped up in the seventh with an RBI ground out by Katy McWilliams.
Mellifont had a day with a double, triple, and home run and three RBI. Wagenschutz had three hits and an RBI. Gordon had a hit and two RBI, Maebel Robeson three hits and three runs scored, McWilliams a hit and RBI, Emma Sorter, Emily Lance, Lillie Robeson, Kristy Maitland, and Maddy Stroia one hit each. Brenna Cassidy pitched the final three innings with five strikeouts.
Taryn Fether and Gillian Bross had the only two hits for Manchester.
The second game was cancelled due to the cold weather.
