Dexter Soccer Has Up and Down Week

The Dexter soccer team had an up and down week last week after suffering its first loss of the season,

The Dreadnaughts opened the week by falling to Tecumseh 3-2.

Dexter had several great opportunities but had so bad luck as they hit the crossbar and posts multiple times and missed on a penalty kick.

Sam Harshe led the Dreads with a goal and assist, while Hayden Newton scored a goal.

Dexter then battled to a 1-1 tie with newest SEC White member Jackson.

Again, the Dreads carried the play but struggled to finish the game ended up tied.

Freshman Will Palazzolo scored the Dreads lone goal with an assist to Noah Lewis. Senior Nick Uranga was superior at midfield, while Alex Doletzky and Harshe created several scoring chances.

The Dreadnaughts played some of its best soccer of the young season as they won a pair of games against state powerhouses at the Gull Lake Invite Saturday.

Dexter opened with an impressive 3-0 win over defending Division 2 state champion Holland.

Caden Doll, Nathan Maki, Matt Roller, Jack Kolka, and Daryl Bell were solid on the defensive end for the Dreads as they held the rebuilding Holland squad to limited shots on net.

Harshe led the offense with a pair of goals and an assist and Lewis pitched in with a goal for Dexter.

Against Gull Lake, the defense was again on point and goaltender Wiley Smith made a huge save to keep Gull Lake off the board for the shutout.

Harshe scored the lone goal of the game with an assist to Lewis.

Dexter improved to 5-1-1 on the season.
