Dexter Softball Routs Huron for Fourth Straight Win





The Dexter softball team has had a big week as the Dreadnaughts have picked up four straight wins all by way of the mercy rule.

Following a sweep of Ypsilanti on Monday, the Dreadnaughts blew past Ann Arbor Huron 10-0 and 14-4 Wednesday, May 8.

Jenna Wagenschutz and Taylor Wilson had RBI singles and Emma Sortor an RBI groundout to give the Dreadnaughts a 3-0 lead after one inning.

Dexter added a run in the fourth and blew the game open with four in the fifth to make it 8-0 and cruised to the win.

Wagenschutz had a big game with three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI. Sam Sutton had two hits and two RBI, while Sortor, Alexis Haley, and Wilson each had a hit and RBI. Wilson and Sutton combined for five strikeouts and allowed three hits with Wilson getting the win in the circle.

Dexter took an early 5-2 lead after two innings in the second game and put the game away with three in the fourth, two in the fifth, and four in the sixth.

Lillie Robeson, Livvy Mellifont, and Sortor had two hits and two RBI each. Paige Sayler picked up the win by striking out four in four innings of work. Brenna Cassidy struck out two over the final two innings.

Dexter improved to 8-7 overall on the season.
