Ann Arbor Skyline rallied late to defeat the Dexter softball team 5-3 and end the Dreadnaughts season in the Division 1 district semifinals in Howell Saturday.
The Dreads took a 3-0 lead in the third on RBI hits by Livvy Mellifont, Lillie Robeson, and Alexis Haley.
Skyline began to chip away at the lead with a run in the fourth and tied it at three with two in the fifth.
Dexter’s bats were quiet, and Skyline took the lead in the seventh with a pair of runs.
The Dreads put a pair of runners on in the bottom of the seventh, but a groundout ended the game and season for Dexter.
The Dreadnaughts reached the finals by rallying past Brighton 7-4 Tuesday, May 29.
Brighton scored four runs in the 5th to take a 4-1 lead, but Dexter would rally late.
Haley smacked a three-run homer in the 6th to tie the score at 4-4. The seventh inning saw Jenna Wagenschutz and Maddy Stroia smack home runs as the Dreads scored three times to take a 7-4 lead and Sam Sutton slammed the door on the Bulldogs in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Haley finished with two hits and four RBI to lead the offense. Wagenschutz had three hits and an RBI, Kylee Niswonger two hits and an RBI, Stroia a home run, Mellifont, and Emma Sortor one hit each.
Sutton struck out five for the win.
