Dexter Softball Splits With Saline

The Dexter softball squad earned a doubleheader split with Saline last week taking the opener 9-4 and falling in the second 4-3.

The Dreadnaughts used the big inning to pull out the win in the opener. They scored two in the first, three in the third and four in the sixth on their way to the win.

Livvy Mellifont and Sam Sutton each had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. Kylee Niswonger had two hits and an RBI and Taylor Wilson added two hits and a run scored. Alexis Haley chipped in with a hit and two RBI and Lillie Robeson a hit and run scored. Maddy Stroia earned the win on the mound striking out three.

Saline took a 4-2 lead in the second game. Dexter got one back in the fifth, but could not get any closer in the loss.

Emily Sortor had two hits, while Niswonger had a hit and two RBI. Robeson had a hit and RBI and Jenna Wagenschutz a hit and run scored. Sutton took the loss, striking out eight.

The Dreadnaughts split a pair of games in a quad at Chelsea Thursday.

The dropped the opener 7-6 as Eaton Rapids rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Mellifont had three hits and one RBI, while Haley had two hits and scored a run. Sortor and Mack Gordon each had a hit and RBI, Wilson had a hit and run scored.

Dexter bounced back to crush Grass Lake 18-8.

The Dreads scored in every inning but the first as the rolled to the win.

Wagenschutz and Niswonger had big games as both collected four this and an RBI. Mellifont and Sutton each had two hits and three RBI, Brenna Cassidy two hits and two RBI, Robeson and Sortor two hits and an RBI each, and Kristy Maitland a hit and run scored.
