Dexter Softball Sweeps Skyline

The Dexter softball team kept its slim hopes of a SEC Red title alive with a doubleheader sweep of Ann Arbor Skyline Monday.

The Dreads trail Saline by 2 1/2 games and would need to win out and have the Hornets lose their last two games to share the Red crown.

Dexter took the opener from Skyline 15-0.

Audrey Gauthier, who picked up her 500th career strikeout this week, allowed just one hit and struck out eight for the win in the circle for the Dreadnaughts.

Dexter scored in each of the first three innings and put the game away with a big seven run third.

The big blow of the game was a grand slam by Clara Lamb, who finished with two hits and four RBI.

Ella Mitchell had three hits and an RBI, while Mallory Brandt had two hits and two RBI. Gigi Kirkey finished with two hits and two runs scored, Lizzie Lewis two hits and two RBI, Roni Wilson a hit and RBI, and Sophia Dettling a hit and two runs scored.

Dexter finished the sweep with a 9-4 win in the second game.

Lamb smacked another home run and finished with two hits and four RBI to lead the offense.

Mitchell had another big game with three hits and three RBI, while Brandt had a hit and RBI. Taylor Onsted added a hit and two runs scored and Eleni Michos a hit and two runs scored.

Wilson earned the win, striking out 10 in the circle for the Dreads.

Dexter dropped a pair of games to Milford 10-8 and 7-3 Wednesday.

Lamb led the offense with three hits and two RBI in the opener. Kirkey finished with two hits and three RBI, Maddie Ohlman two hits, Lewis a hit and two RBI, Onsted a hit and two runs scored, Mitchell and Wilson a hit and run scored each.

The Dreads were held to just four hits in the 7-3 loss in the second game.

Lamb had a hit and RBI, Kirkey a hit and two runs scored, Mitchell a double and run scored, and Ohlman one hit.

Dexter then dropped a pair of games to Tecumseh that left the Dreadnaughts two games behind Saline in the standings.

A seven run third inning by the Indians doomed Dexter in the 8-2 loss in the opener.

Wilson led the offense with three hits, while Dettling had a hit and RBI. Lamb and Onsted each had a hit and run scored.

Tecumseh took the second game 6-4.

Gauthier had three hits and a run scored, while Dettling had a hit and two RBI. Kirkey added a hit and RBI and Onsted a hit and run scored.

Dexter is 15-10 overall on the season and 12-4 in the SEC Red.
