Dexter Swim and Dive Looking at 4-Peat with Strong Prelims





A strong day at the swim and dive preliminaries has the Dexter mens‘ swim and dive team looking a possible 4th straight Division 2 State Title at Eastern Michigan University.

The Dreadnaughts have been ranked #1 in Division 2 all season and they showed why at Friday’s prelims.

Dexter took the top spot in qualifying in five events and the second spot in two more. They will have finalists in 11 of 12 events Saturday, including 10 of 12 in the championship heats.

Nik Eberly, a four-time individual state champion, helped the Dreadnaughts by qualifying first in four events. He qualified in the top spot in the 50 free and try to defend his title in the 100 fly. He was also part of the 200 medley relay team along with Clayton Kinnard, Paul Schaefer, and Tanner Sharp; and the 400 free relay with Michael Baumann, Kinnard, and Casey Dolen.

Nik Eberly qualified first in 2 individual events and 2 relays at D2 Finals


Dolen qualified first in the 200 free and second in the 100 free. He is also part of the 200 free relay with Sharp, Baumann, and Luke Sayler that qualified second.

Sharp will start sixth in the 100 breast and eighth in the 50 free, while Kinnard with start eighth in the 200 IM. Cole Warren qualified 10th in the diving, while Schaefer was 16th in the 100 breast and Kinnard 16th in the 100 back.
