The Dexter girls’ tennis team opened 2019 play this week by going 2-1 on the week, including a 7-1 win over Jackson in the SEC White opener for the Dreadnaughts.

Behind the power of three seniors, the Dreadnaughts dominated the singles matches. Seniors #2 Maggie Tucker (6-2, 7-6), #3 Lauren Filipiak (6-0, 6-0), and #4 Kendall Rosevelt (6-0, 6-1) picked up big wins.

Sophomore Tara Lessnau, who moved into the district from Birmingham, won her one singles match 6-4, 6-2.

Picking up wins in double were #2 Emma Hodder and Sarah Penrose 6-3, 6-2, #3 Isabella Butka and Alina Birchmeier 6-1, 6-4, and #4 Nicole France and Llewellen Harsch 6-0, 6-1.

The Dreadnaughts swept all ten matches against Milan Wednesday. Lessnau, Tucker, Filipiak, and Rosevelt were winners in singles, while Sage Roperti and Janelle Hubert at one doubles, #2 Hodder/Penrose, #3 Avery Goodrich/ Ella Diab, #4 Butka/Birchmeier, #5 France/ Harsch, and #6 Emily Hutchings/ Anna Creech were all winners at doubles.

The Dreads dropped the season opener to Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 6-3 Monday.

Picking up wins for Dexter were Filipiak at three-singles, Roperti/Hubert at one-doubles, and France/Harsch at five doubles.
