Synopsis of Action of the Dexter Township Board of Trustees
Regular Board Meeting January 17, 2017
Called to order at 7:00 PM
Members Present: Supervisor Rider, Clerk Ceo, Trustees Compton, Gajewski and Mesko.
Absent: Treasurer Brushaber and Trustees Drolett with notice
Also, Present: Zachary Michels, Director of Planning & Zoning
Supervisor’s Remarks: Seasonal weight restrictions for Washtenaw County roads are in effect at 6 a.m. Thursday January 19, 2017. During the January 2017, outdoor warning system test all sirens functioned properly. Trustee Compton will be assisting with the operations of the siren system.

The Board approved: The Agenda for January 17, 2017 Board meeting, moving Consent item B, MTA Annual Education Conference to New Business; Minutes from the December 20, 2016 Regular Board; the consent agenda approving the Board of Review Training, Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks (MAMC) Clerk’s Institute training for the Clerk, purchase of ESRI ArcGis Software Licenses ; along with General Fund bills totaling $63,039.92, Fire Fund bills totaling $52,488.34, Police Fund bills totaling $39,569.00, Agency Fund bills totaling $3,724.11, and gross monthly payroll of $22,335.61.
In addition, the Board took the following actions: Approved Resolution 17-473 extending the Moratorium on New Development for 6 additional months; approved the Michigan Municipal League training for area communities to be hosted and sponsored by Dexter Township with the understanding Dexter Township will be reimbursed for the cost of participates not sponsored by Dexter Township; approved the Director of Zoning and Planning to attend the 2017 APA National Conference; affirmed the appointment of James Drolett as alternate member of the Washtenaw Urban County Executive Committee for a term that runs concurrent with his elected term of office; approved Resolution 16-474 a resolution to allow taxpayers to protest property tax assessment by mail; approved Resolution 16-475 a resolution to adopt the poverty exemption income guidelines and asset test for the 2017 tax year, approved registration for the MTA Educational Conference for Township elected officials.
Discussion was held on the following subjects: Pulse Broadband Study, a committee of three will be formed to study options available to the Township on how to proceed. Trustee Compton will part of the committee along with two members from the community; Consideration of a 218 agreement to allow current employees and officials into the Social Security system; Budgets for Fiscal Year 2017/2018.
