The Dexter Men’s Water Polo team traveled to Rockford, Michigan for a great start to an exciting season.

The Dreadnaughts faced off against Rockford for an 11-6 win.  Captain Luke Sayler led Dexter with four goals, while captains Paul Schaefer and Mitch Sterlitz added two each, and Ben Duncan and Sam Sterlitz each scoring one.

For the first game on Saturday the team came out strong, scoring six goals in the first quarter on the way to a 12-5 win against Seaholm.

Saturday afternoon Dexter came up against St. Charles.  After two relatively dominant wins, St. Charles posed a tougher challenge.  The Dreadnaughts were up one point the entire game for a 10-9 win.  Junior goaltender Tony Golin held St. Charles back with an impressive 14 saves.

In the finals, the Dreads faced a very strong Hudsonville team and lost 10-1 finishing 2nd overall with a 3-1 record.

Coach Brian Semple is proud of the team’s performance over the weekend and is excited about the rest of the season.
