Dorothy was born October 1,1931 in Flint, Michigan to Alice and Jacob Swartz. She passed peacefully surrounded by her daughters on April 25, 2018.
Dottie graduated from Fenton High School in 1949. She attended nursing school at Saginaw General, graduating with an RN degree in 1955 in the top five in her class. She then worked as an RN, until her children were born.
Later Dottie worked for the State of Michigan in a clerical capacity, retiring in 1991.
Most of her life was spent in Michigan close to her family. She enjoyed observing the wildlife that surrounded her home in the country. She derived great joy from gardening and took pride in her flower gardens and landscaping. Sewing and crafts were also hobbies she enjoyed.
The crown jewels of her life were her grandchildren, and she shined in the role of Grandmother.
Dottie was a determined and resourceful person, which led her to accomplish most anything she set her mind to. She had a firm faith in God, which was very important to her throughout her life. She was also very playful, staying active until shortly before she passed. She retained her quick wit and sense of humor through the difficult days of her illness. She was fun to be with and brought laughs and smiles to those around her.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, eight of her nine siblings, and her son, Todd.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kimberly Bazzy, Lisa (David) Harris, and Kelly (Scott) Strantz, as well as seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and sister, Evelyn Koller.
She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family.
A small family memorial has already been held.
