A big second inning helped launch the Dexter baseball team to a 12-0 rout of Ann Arbor Huron Thursday.

The Dreadnaughts sent 12 batters to the plate in the second and scored seven times to take a 7-0 lead after two innings. Dexter collected four hits in the inning and benefited from three Huron errors and a pair of walks.

The Dreads added three more runs in the third with Evan Krolewski collecting an RBI single in the inning to make it 10-0.

Two walks and a hit batter helped the Dreadnaughts push two more runs across in the fourth to make it 12-0. Huron threatened with a pair of runners on in the fifth, but David Kreske got a strikeout to end the game.

Ben Cabana earned the win on the mound, striking out five and allowing two hits. Kreske struck out three in two innings of relief work.

Andy Durand led the offense with to hits, an RBI, and three runs scored, while Nate Kniesteadt had two hits and two runs scored. Kreske had a hit and three RBI and Krolewski a hit and two RBI. Austin Bockrath collected a hit and two runs scored, while Kevin DeVoogd and Joe Horne each had a hit.
