The Dexter baseball team dropped two of three games to Pinckney this week, dropping the Dreadnaughts out of contention for the top spot in the SEC White.
Dexter took a 1-0 lead in the second in the opener on an RBI groundout by Nate Kniesteadt.
It would stay that way until the sixth, when the Pirates would score three times to take a 3-1 lead. The big blow of the inning was a two-out two-RBI single by Will Schultz.
Kevin DeVoogd singled to lead off the seventh, but would be stranded to end the game.
DeVoogd finished with a pair of hits to lead the offense, while Alex Mills Andy Durand, and Trevor Feeman had one hits each.
The Dreads bounced back to take the second game 9-8 in eight innings.
The game was tied at 7-7 after seven inning and the Pirates took an 8-7 lead in the top of the eighth.
Alex Mills singled and David Kreske was hit by a pitch to put two men on with one out. Mills scored on a RBI single by Evan Krolewski to tie the game. DeVoogd walked to load the bases the the Dreadnaughts scored the game winner with walk by Feeman.
Nathaniel Fiegel earned the win by pitching the final 2/3 of the inning in the eighth, striking out two.
Krolewski had a big game with four hits and three RBI,while Mills had three hits and three runs scored. Feeman had a hit and two RBI, while Zach Gulleckson and Devoogd had a hit and RBI each.
The rubber match saw Pinckney scored five runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to down Dexter 16-6.
Kniesteadt led the offense with three hits and an RBI. Durand, DeVoogd, and Fiegel each had a hit and RBI. Ben Caban struck out seven on the mound for Dexter.
The Dreadnaughts fell to 13-11 overall and 10-7 in the SEC White.
