After a slow start, the Dexter hockey team kicked it into high gear as the Dreadnaughts rallied for an 8-6 shootout win over Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills Friday night.

The Knights came out on fire and scored the first three goals of the game before the Dreadnaughts righted the ship when Kyle Burke put Dexter on the board to make it 3-1 after one period.

Burke would finished the net again to start the second period as the Dreadnaught turned things around with three goals. Nate Kniesteadt and Burke scored his third of the game to make it 4-4 after two periods.

Dexter continued to pour it on in the third period, scoring four times.

Brendan Busdeker put the Dreads on top early in the third, while Jackson Cyganski, Jonathan Rosevelt, and Joey Fracassi would each score for Dexter in the period.

Burke finishe with the hat trick of three goals and added an assist. Brusdeker and Fracassi each had a goal and three assists, while Dalton Wright had three assists. Kniesteadt added a goal and assist, while Luc Chesney and Dylan Hutchison each picked up an assist.

Earlier in the week, the Dreadnaughts fell to Ann Arbor Skyline 6-1.

The Dreads struggled by not being able to stay out of the penalty box and Skyline capitalized with three power play goals to pull away for the win.

Burke scored the lone goal for Dexter with Kniesteadt picking up the assists.

The Dreadnaughts improved to 3-1 on the season. They will face Kenowa Hills in a rematch Saturday night at 6:00 in Grand Rapids.
