Elizabeth “Betty” Helen Lesser

Dexter, Michigan

At age 88 passed away peacefully on September 29, 2018.  She was born the daughter of Henry and Suzanna (Martini) Adams on August 15, 1930 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, later moving to Croswell, Michigan.

She graduated from Croswell-Lexington High School with honors in 1947. She then moved to Ypsilanti and graduated from Cleary School of Business.

October 14, 1950 she married Carl Lesser, and he survives.

Betty was a hard worker and was a very dedicated secretary for the Michigan Ladder Company in Ypsilanti. She worked for the Dexter Co-op, was active in the North Lake Women’s Extension Club, Washtenaw County Farm Bureau, and was a longtime cook for the Dexter Community Schools.

She was a longtime member of St. Andrew’s United Church of Christ in Dexter, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and director of the Junior Choir for many years.

Betty is survived by her children: John Lesser and Susan (Darrell) Stoker. She is also survived by her grandchildren Adam and Carl; her sister Annie (Robert) Tesluck, nephews Bob (Debbie) Tesluck and Tim (Nancy) Tesluck; her sisters-in-law Arlene Honbaum and Carol Lesser; nieces Debbie (Jeff) Bourdon, Kathy (Dave) Devine, Laurie (Kevin) Appier; nephews Jim (Joyce) Burmeister, Dale Lesser, Doug Lesser, David Lesser and Tom (Melissa) Lesser.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Adams, sisters-in-law Barbara Adams and Mary Burmeister; brothers-in-law Leonard Burmeister, Norwin Lesser, and Merritt Honbaum.

A funeral service will take place Monday, October 8, 2018 at 11am from St. Andrew’s United Church of Christ in Dexter, and burial will follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea on Sunday from 3-8pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Andrew’s Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice.
