Eastern Michigan University is gearing up for the seventh annual Bike Rodeo, presented by the EMU Police Department. The event is scheduled for June 15 from 9 a.m. until noon at the George Gervin GameAbove Center, 799 N Hewitt Rd. in Ypsilanti. This free, family-friendly event aims to promote bike safety and community engagement.
The EMU Bike Rodeo has become a cherished tradition, promoting bike safety and fostering a sense of community. Local families can engage in interactive activities and learn valuable skills for navigating the roads safely.
“The Bike Rodeo is not just an event; it’s a commitment to ensuring that every rider, young or old, can enjoy the freedom of cycling safely,” said Sergeant Joseph Torres from EMU’s Department of Public Safety.
This year’s Bike Rodeo promises various activities, including free helmets, bike safety checks, and giveaways. To support bike safety further, the EMU Police Department will donate bicycle locks to needy participants. Complimentary refreshments and food will also be available for attendees.
The event has garnered support from various partners and supporters, including the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Pediatric Trauma Program and Safe Kids Huron Valley, among others.
“I enjoy the opportunity to support our community and offer extensive support and resources to Washtenaw County and surrounding areas,” said Sergeant Torres.
