Jordan Hopkins, from Dexter, was a senior at the Honors College at Eastern Michigan University.
She died as a result of a car accident with her friend on Jan. 25.
Hopkins, 23, was an honors student majoring in psychology. She was going to graduate in the spring. Hopkins was working on her honors thesis on addictive health behaviors in college students. For her thesis, she was working with Natalie Dove, an associate professor at EMU.
“I loved the way that Jordan pursued everything she did with a detail orientation that is rare to find. She used to make me laugh because she would send me these long, rambling emails as she called them,” Dove wrote in an email. “She never missed a beat. She had a great smile, and a laugh that could brighten your day.”
She had a bright future, Dove said. Hopkins recently applied for graduate schools in clinical psychology, said Dove. Hopkins was a very promising applicant, she said.
Dexter High School Principal William “Kit” Moran said Hopkins was a good student. She was very social and an excellent soccer player, he said.
Her viewing will be at Nie Family Funeral Home on Jan. 29 from 4-8pm. The memorial service will be at Jan. 30 at 11am. Nie Family Funeral Home is located at 3767 West Liberty Road.
