Breathe Reads: Your Studio Bookclub

Welcome to Breathe Reads – your yoga community’s bookclub! We will meet on the last Sunday of every second month, beginning on September 30th, from 2:30-4pm to discuss a variety of books of interest to our ‘moai’ – that is our community, that comes together for a common purpose and to support one another. Tea will be served, and we will end each gathering with a brief closing circle and meditation.

The parameters for selecting titles are fairly relaxed: anything yogic, spiritual, self-reflective, on wellness, personal growth, overcoming stress/anxiety/illness/adversity, concerning issues such as being a steward of the earth, social responsibility, etc – pretty open actually. Most likely they will be non-fiction, but not necessarily. They should be easily available, ie still in print.

Our first title, up for discussion on September 30th, is a delight of a book! It’s called Ikigai: The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life by Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia

There is no charge for attending bookclub, but it would be helpful if you could register your intent on joining us by signing up via your Mindbody account, just as you do for classes online at breatheyogachelsea.com.

If you have titles you would like to submit for future meetings, please email me at sue@breatheyogachelsea.com, and I will put together a list that we will vote on at our September meeting.

It was always my intention to have a bookclub at the studio, and I’m so excited that we’re finally getting to it! I sincerely hope you’ll be a part of this exciting new chapter at Breathe!
