“Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue” – Ann Arbor Concert Band
David Leach and several guest conductors lead this local wind volunteer ensemble in a program including Hindemith’s 1943 Symphonic Metamorphosis, an upbeat, splashy work based on themes by Carl Maria von Weber that was later used for a George Balanchine ballet. Also, Sousa’s Northern Pines, a march written for the National Music Camp at Interlochen, and works by Irving Fine, Tielman Susato, Frank Ticheli, and Michigan composer Andrew David Perkins. Guest conductors are U-M music professors Jason Fettig and John Pasquale and EMU music professors J. Nick Smith, Andrew David Perkins, and A2CB assistant conductor Matt Kazmierski, 2 p.m., Michigan Theater.
