Chelsea Softball Wins Four of Five

The Chelsea softball team wrapped up a busy week by winning four of five games in two days Friday and Saturday.

Chelsea had no issues in a 15-0, 15-0 sweep of Ann Arbor Skyline Friday.

Bulldog’s pitchers Emilee Underwood and Emily McCalla combined to throw two no-hitters in the twin bill. Neither allowed a walk on the day and the only baserunner for the Eagles had all day came on a Chelsea error. Underwood struck out ten in the opener and McCalla four in the second for Chelsea.

The Chelsea bats were booming all day.

The Bulldogs collected 17 hits in the opener led by home runs by Underwood and Mya Purdy.

Purdy finished with three hits and two RBI and Underwood the home run and two RBI. Bekah Zachrich and Andi Evers had three hits and three RBI each, while Maggie Olaveson had two hits and three RBI. McCalla had two hits and an RBI, Zoey Monica two hits and three RBI, and Amelia Robinson a hit and run scored.

Chelsea added 13 more hits in the second game with Underwood adding another bomb along with a homer by Nicole Roeser. Both finished with two hits and four RBI to lead the Bulldogs.

Olaveson added two hits and three RBI, Evers two hits and an RBI, and Purdy two hits and two runs scored. McCalla chipped in with a hit and RBI, while Katherine Thoms and Robinson both added one hit.

Chelsea hosted a home quad Saturday and dropped its first game of the season 3-2 to Farmington in the opener.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead, but Farmington on top with three in the fourth and Chelsea could not battle back.

Purdy led the offense with three hits including a home run. Zachrich, Olaveson, Roeser, and Monica had the other hits for the Bulldogs. Underwood struck out 16 in the loss.

Chelsea bounced back to beat Livonia Churchill 15-5 in the second game.

Purdy added another home run and had two hits and three RBI. Zachrich finished with three hits and two RBI and Evers two hits and two RBI. Jenna Ouelette chipped in with two hits and a run scored, Madison Kay a hit and two RBI, Thoms and McCalla a hit and RBI each. McCalla struck out five for the win for Chelsea.

The Bulldogs finished the day by pounding Holt 15-0.

Olaveson and Underwood smacked home runs for Chelsea. Both finished with a home run and two RBI.

Monica led the team with three hits and two RBI, while Zachrich had three hits and one RBI. Purdy added two hits and three RBI, Evers two hits and two RBI, McCalla two hits and two runs scored, and Ouelette a hit and RBI. Underwood struck out seven for the win.

Chelsea is now 13-1 on the season.
