Chelsea Golf Team Third at Marshall Invite

The Chelsea golf team had a strong showing at the Marshall Invitational Friday, April 23 coming home with a third-place finish at the event.

The Bulldogs tied for second with St. Joseph with an 18-hole team score of 333, but dropped to third due to the tiebreaker. Portage Northern won the event at Marshall Country Club with a score of 321.

Reed Murray and Carter DeRosia led Chelsea with rounds of 79 to tie for eighth place.

Jace DeRosia fired a round of 85 to finish 19th, while Ethan Lyles was 31st with a score of 90, and Jack Murray 55th with a round of 98.

Ninety golfers and 17 teams took part in the event.

The Bulldogs defeated Monroe 173-193 in a SEC duel meet at Inverness G.C. April 21.

Murray fired a nine-hole score of to lead Chelsea.

Jace DeRosia shot 43 followed by Carter DeRosia with 44. Ethan Lyles and Davie Cole-Heiss both shot 45, and Max Egan 52. 

The Bulldogs split a pair of meets at Jackson April 19 beating Jackson 167-187 but falling to Skyline 153-167.

Carter DeRosia led the Bulldogs with a round of 38, but Skyline had four players shoot 40 or under to pull out the win.

Ryan Martin shot 43, Reed Murray 44, Jack Murray 45, and Ewan Weid 52.
