Chelsea Girls' Track Wins Mason Invite. Boys' Second
The Chelsea track and field teams had another strong showing at an invitational Friday as the Lady Bulldogs took first and the boys second at the Mason Invitational.
The girls clipped Holt for the second straight week with 137.5 points, while the Rams were right behind with 135.5. The Bulldogs beat out Holt for the top spot to win the Chelsea relays last weekend.
Riley Thorburn came home first in the 800 and was part of the winning 4x400 relay team along with Makayla Kegerreis, Audra Guthre, and Kasey Matusik.
Breanne Black also won the pole vault for Chelsea.
Kegerreis had big day for the Bulldogs to go along with the 4x400 relay win, she was second in the 400, third in the 200, and third in the long jump.
Trilian Kurg was second in the 1600, Molly Manor second in the 100 hurdles, Morgan Majeske second in the shot put, and the 4x100 relay team of Manor, Eva Dewaele, Laney Smith, and Alyson Baize also placed second.
Kendra Patterson was third in the 100 hurdles, while the 4x200 relay team of Kasey Matusik, Smith, Brooke Matusik, and Dewaele also finished third.
The boys finished with 135 points in the invite won by Mason with 154.5.
Will Barhite had a big day by winning the 300 hurdles, while placing second in the 200 and 110 hurdles races.
Second place finishes went to Owen Smith in the 800, Connell Alford 1600, Jimmy Alford 3200, and Brandon Snyder long jump.
Jackson Dell was 3rd in the 1600 and Zebedee Swager 3rd in the 3200. Other third place finishes went to Ryan Scott in the shot put, Dominic Guthre pole vault, the 4x200 relay team of Jack Kruch, Nick Fisk, Snyder, and Andrew Sherwood, and the 4x400 team of Sherwood, Smith, Nick Spruce, and Guthre.
