Chelsea Softball Blanks Pioneer
The Chelsea softball team used a quick start in the first inning to take down Ann Arbor Pioneer 4-0 Wednesday.
The Bulldogs remained perfect in the SEC White with showdowns with Dexter Friday and Ypsilanti Lincoln Monday in battles that should help decide the league champion.
An RBI single by Emilee Underwood was followed by an RBI triple by Bekah Zachrich to make it 2-0. Andi Evers would drive Zachrich home with a ground out to make it 3-0 after one.
That is all Underwood would need on the mound as she allowed just four hits and struck out 14 for the Bulldogs. Pioneers only real threat came in the seventh when they put two on base with singles, but Underwood struck out the final two batters to end the game.
Katherine Thoms added a hit and RBI, Mya Purdy and Maggie Olaveson a hit and run scored each.
