Chelsea Softball Sweeps Home Quad
The Chelsea softball team had a big day with a sweep of a home quad Saturday.
The Bulldogs opened with a 3-0 win over Ida.
Emilee Underwood was strong on the mound striking out 15 and allowed just three hits.
Nicole Roeser had two doubles and scored two runs to lead the offense. Mya Purdy, Maggie Olaveson, and Amelia Robinson had a hit and RBI each.
The second game saw the Bulldogs take down Haslett 6-1.
Purdy led off the bottom of the first with a home run to tie the game at one.
Andi Evers smacked a homerun in the bottom of the third to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead and they never looked back.
Zoey Monica drove in a run with a groundout in the fourth to make it 3-1. A two-run double by Emily MCalla and an RBI single by Robinson pushed the lead to 6-1 in the fifth and the Bulldogs cruised to the win.
McCalla finished with two hits and two RBI, while Purdy and Evers each had two hits and an RBI. Robinson finished with a hit and RBI and Olaveson a double. McCalla struck out five for the win on the mound.
The Bulldogs finished the day by pounding Division 3 fourth-ranked Clinton 17-2.
It was a rout from the start as with the Bulldogs scoring two in the first, five in the second, and six in the third on their way to a four inning mercy of the state-ranked Redskins.
Roeser went 3-3 with three RBI, McCalla 2-2 with two RBI, and Purdy and Olaveson smacked home runs. Zachrich and Robinson each finished with a hit and RBI. Underwood struck out three for the win.
Chelsea improved to 23-3 overall on the season.
