VARIANCE REQUEST and PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
CHANGE OF DATE – AUGUST 24, 2022
TO: THE RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS OF THE TOWNSHIP OF SYLVAN, WASHTENAW COUNTY, MICHIGAN, AND ANY OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Sylvan Township Zoning Board of Appeals will conduct a public hearing and meeting on August 24, 2022 commencing at 7:00 p.m. at the Sylvan Township Hall, 18027 Old U.S. 12, within the Township, to consider the following:
Item 1: Application by Jim and Susan Holmes requesting a variance to demolish the existing structure and rebuild a 2,628 sq. ft. home on a 96 ft wide, .39 acre nonconforming lot less than the required 1 acre and 150 ft wide lot in Ordinance Sec. 30-348. Project Description: Remove existing structure and replace with a new structure. ADDRESS: 160 Shoreview Dr. Property tax # F-06-08-235-017
Item 2: Applications by Harry and Jan Cohen requesting a variance for nonconforming lot size, front yard setback, north and south side yard setbacks, lot coverage, floor to area ratio, and structural height. Project Description: deck construction and secondary basement. Property line dimensions: approx. 61 ft. width x 165 ft. length ADDRESS: 546 Highland Dr. Property tax # F-06-05-365-010
- Such other and further matters as shall lawfully come before the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Anyone interested in reviewing the Application referenced above, the Township Zoning Map, or the Township Zoning Ordinance may examine a copy by contacting the undersigned clerk of the township via telephone or email; and/or by appointment with the same at the township hall. The Application will be available at the meeting. The Township Zoning Ordinance can be accessed on www.municode.com.
Written comments will be received from any interested persons concerning the foregoing by the Sylvan Township Clerk at the Township Hall at any time during regular business hours up to the date of the hearing and may be further received by the Zoning Board of Appeals at the hearing.
All interested persons are invited to be present at the aforesaid time and place.

The public may only speak during the public hearing and during public comment by being physically present at the meeting. Such comments will be limited to three minutes per person for each item. To provide for orderly public participation a person wishing to speak must state their name and request to be recognized by the Zoning Board of Appeals Chairperson. The Chairperson will recognize all persons wishing to speak during public comment and public hearings. If, prior to the meeting, members of the public have certain questions or wish to provide written comment on any business that will be addressed at the meeting then such persons may contact the Zoning Board of Appeals through the undersigned Township Clerk at the below email or address. Written comments will also be received by the Zoning Board of Appeals at the meeting before close of the public hearing.
Sylvan Township will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired and audio tapes of printed material being considered at the hearing, to individuals with disabilities at the hearing upon four (4) days' notice to the Sylvan Township Clerk.
