Synopsis of Regular Meeting Minutes

September 12, 2022

Supervisor Luick opened the meeting at 7:00 PM with the Pledge of Allegiance. Board members present were Duane Luick, Elaine Bater, Nanette Havens, and Greg McKenzie. Dale Luick was absent.

The evening agenda was approved with two additions.

The Board approved the consent agenda: meeting minutes of August 8, 2022, accounts payable for $95,853.06 and payroll for $8,982.14.

George Panagoulias presented the advantages a marijuana dispensary would bring to Lima if the board were to opt-in to allowing them to operate in the township, and if an ordinance was adopted.

Reports were given. Under old business, the list of possible projects being considered for the American Rescue Plan Act Funds ($416,101) were narrowed down and discussed - CAFA, bridge maintenance and/or repair, new hall design, historic lima depot maintenance and repair, and scanning and digitalizing township documents. No action was taken.

New business - a resolution was adopted to give retirees a 4.5% COLA increase. Still under new business - the 425 agreement, regarding the Wolfe Development with the City of Chelsea was discussed. The matter was postponed pending township attorney input. The Board accepted the letter of resignation from Elaine Bater, Township Clerk, and thanked her for her seven years of service. The Board accepted the letter of resignation from Randy Raiford, Zoning Administrator/Ordinance Enforcement Officer, and thanked him for his service. Advertising to the public will be done to fill both positions with qualified replacements. Interested applicants may send resumes and a letter of interest to lima@twp-lima.org.

Under public comment the clerk said the State was not able to purchase the undeveloped 510 acres of private property next to Four-Mile Lake Game Preserve, as it was bought by a private citizen. The State will not be pursuing the additional undeveloped 100 acres west since it was continent on getting the 510 acres. The meeting was adjourned at 8:34 PM.
