The Dexter softball team had a rough start to the season dropping a pair of game to a strong Jackson Northwest team 7-0 and 11-4 Tuesday.

The Dreadnaughts had no answer for Mountie starting pitcher Navaeh Ingram who struck out 12 Dreadnaughts and had a perfect game through 6 2/3 innings. Sam Sutton broke up the perfect game with a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh but it wasn't enough for the Dreads.

Sutton took the loss on the mound striking out three.

The second game saw Northwest jump out to a 7-0 lead after two innings before Dexter could get anything going.

Kylee Niswonger doubled with one out in the third and Livvy Mellifont followed with a double to drive in Niswonger to make it 7-1.

The Mounties would push the lead to 11-1 in the seventh when the Dreadnaughts would try to rally.

Mellifont doubled in a pair of runs in the seventh and Sutton followed with a double for an RBI to cut the lead to 11-4 but Dexter would get no closer.

Dexter was led by Mellifont with two doubles and three RBI, while Sutton had two hits and an RBI. Niswonger added a pair of hits for the Dreads. Paige Sayler struck out five on the mound for Dexter.
