Dexter Softball Powers Past Tecumseh in DH Sweep

The Dexter softball team bounced back a big way after a season opening pair of losses to sweep a doubleheader from Tecumseh Friday.

The Dreadnaughts bats were booming and they blasted the Indians 16-0 and 14-1 in the DH sweep.

Sam Sutton allowed just four hits and struck out six for the win on the rubber, while the offense pounded out 18 hits in the opener. 

Dexter scored in every inning on its way to the five inning win over the Indians.

Sutton also helped her cause with the bat with four hits including a home run to lead the offense.

Lillie Robeson had three hits and three RBI, while Maddy Thompson had a big game with two hits and five RBI. Emma Sortor and Paige Sayler each had two hits and two RBI, while Kylee Niswonger had two hits and a RBI. Jenna Wagenschutz added two hits and Brenna Cassidy a hit and RBI.

Dexter continued its offensive onslaught with six runs in the first inning of the second game as they rolled to the 14-1 win.

Niswonger pounded out three hits and two RBI to lead the Dreads hitting attack.

Sutton had another big game with two doubles and four RBI, while Cassidy had two hits and an RBI. Cassidy had two hits and a RBI and Livvy Mellifont and Sortor  a hit and two RBI each. Wagenschutz chipped in with a hit and RBI and Sayler a hit and run scored.

Sayler earned the win on the mound striking out four and allowing four hits. 

The Dreadnaughts return to action Monday at Jackson.
