Dexter Baseball Takes Two of Three from Tecumseh
The Dexter baseball team opened SEC White play by taking two of three from Tecumseh last week.
The Dreadnaughts opened the series by dropping a heartbreaking nine inning game 7-6.
Dexter led 6-3, but the Indians rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game a 6-6.
The Dreadnaughts loaded the bases in the top of the ninth but could not push a run across. Tecumseh then loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning and walked off with a game winning single with two outs.
Cam Rosen led the offense with three hits and two RBI. Evan Krolewski had two hits and two runs scored, while Nathan Deleruyelle and Jonathan Rosevelt each had a hit and RBI. Cole Arnedt and Brennan Parachek each had a hit and run scored and Joey Tessmer and Evan Hochendoner each a hit.
Rosen and Andrew Basso combined for 13 strikeouts on the mound in the loss.
The second game was suspended after three innings with Dexter leading 3-0 and was continued Wednesday in Dexter.
Arnedt and Tessmer had RBI singles in the fifth to make it 5-0 before Tecumseh rallied for three to make it 5-3.
Dexter would get some cushion in the top of the seventh with RBI’s by Rosevelt and Arnedt to make the final 8-3.
Arnedt finished with two hits and two RBI, while Zach Gullekson had three hits and an RBI. Rosevelt finished with two hits and a RBI, while Tessmer, Avery Berkebile, and Krolewski each had a hit and RBI.
Wyatt Novara earned the win on the mound for the Dreadnaughts striking out seven in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
Dexter built a 3-0 lead in the third game of the series, but Tecumseh scored four in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead.
Rosen and Tessmer drove in runs in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead 5-4 and Payton Hendricks drove in an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth for a 6-4 lead which the Dreads held on to for the series win.
Rosen finished with three hits to lead the Dreads. Braedon Fuson and Arnedt each had a hit and run scored, Deleruyelle, Parachek, and Gullekson a hit each.
Berkebile earned the win on the mound with four strikeouts in three innings of relief work. Arnedt picked up the save with two strikeouts in one inning of relief.
