Dexter Baseball Gets by Brighton

A big three-run sixth inning blew open a close game as Dexter took down Brighton 6-1 Friday.

Brennan Parachek was strong on the mound allowing just one hit and striking out seven in four innings of work for the win for the Dreadnaughts.

Dexter took a 2-0 lead in the third by scoring a pair of runs without a hit. The tinning started with three straight walk to load the bases for the Dreads. Evan Krolewski hit a sacrifice fly to plate a run and Cam Rosen followed with a RBI groundout for another.

It stayed that way until the sixth when the Dreadnaughts put three more on the board.

Davis Bennett doubled in a run to make the score 3-0. Braedon Fuson followed with an RBI single and Cole Arnedt doubled in Fuson to make it 5-0.

Brighton put one on the board in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-1, but Dexter answered with a run in the seventh on a wild pitch that scored Krolewski to make it 6-1.

Rosen pitched the final 1 2/3 innings for the save for the Dreads.

Nathan Deleruyellepicked up a pair of hits to lead the offense. Fuson had a hit, RBI and two runs scored, Bennett and Krolewski a hit and RBI, and Parachek a hit for Dexter.

The second game ended in a 3-3 tie in nine innings after being called due to darkness.

Brighton led 1-0 heading to the seventh, but an RBI single by Parachek tied the score at 1-1 to send it into extra innings.

Dexter took a 3-1 lead in the top of the ninth on RBI doubles by Parachek and Bennett.

Brighton scored a pair of  runs to re-tie it at 3-3 and had two runners on with one out, but Andrew Basso got a pair of strikeouts to end the threat and the game was called to end in a tie.

Parachek had a big game with three hits and two RBI and Arnedt had two hits and a run scored. Krolewski had a hit and two runs scored and Bennett a hit and RBI.
