The Dexter softball team continued its hot play of late by sweeping Parma Western 8-2 and 11-0 in a non-conference doubleheader Monday.
Parma led 1-0 in the third when Sam Sutton drove in a pair of runs with a single to make it 2-1. Dexter would add a run on an error to make it 3-1.
The Panthers cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the third, but Dexter would take control in the fifth. After a Jenna Wagenschutz walk, Sutton blasted a homerun to make it 5-2. Three straight doubles by Brenna Cassidy, Paige Sayler and Lillie Robeson pushed the lead to five and a Hannah Marsik RBI single made it 8-2 in the fifth and that would be the final.
Sutton had a big game at the plate with three hits and four RBI. Robeson finished with three hits and an RBI and Marsik two hits and an RBI and Kylee Niswonger a hit and run scored.
Paige Sayler struckout 12 on the mound for the win and had a double and RBI at the plate.
The second game saw Sutton and Cassidy combine to allow one hit and strike out six in the 11-0 rout.
Sutton smacked her second homer of the day with a three run shot in the second.
Maddy Thompson had two hits and an RBI, while Sayler, Emma Sortor, and Ella Mitchell each had a hit and two RBI. Cassidy added a double and Robeson a hit and runs scored.
