Dexter Baseball Sweeps Pioneer
The Dexter baseball team made it three out of four wins this week after a doubleheader pasting of Ann Arbor Pioneer Saturday.
The Dreads opened the day by routing Pioneer 13-2 behind the strong pitching of Brennan Parachek.
Parachek struck out nine and allowed four hits and two runs in five innings of work on the mound. He would get a lot of help from the Dexter offense that scored early and often on the way to the win.
Dexter would get on the board in the top of the first with three straight singles and Joey Tessmer driving in a run to make it 1-0. A wild pitch plated a run for Dexter and a walk and error pushed two more across to make it 4-0 after one.
A Tessmer single and a hit batter put two runners on in the second and another Pioneer wild pitch scored another run for the Dreads to make it 5-0 after two.
Pioneer would get one back in the third, but an error and a two-run double by Cam Rosen made it 8-1 in the fourth.
Derrick Nelson and Max Bielas drove in runs in the fifth to make it 10-2 and in the seventh Zach Gullekson ripped a two-run triple and Brian Matthews a run-scoring single to make the final 13-2.
A big nine run second inning blew open the second game and the Dreads held off Pioneer for a 15-9 win.
Rosen and Davis Bennet each had two hits and an RBI to lead Dexter.
Evan Krolewski ripped a triple and drove in three runs. James Pezda added a hit and two runs, while Cole Arnedt, Shay Ohtonen, and Parachek each had a hit and run scored. CJ Alvarado also added a hit for Dexter, while Wyatt Novara picked up the win with three strikeouts.
Dexter improved to 16-7-2 on the season.
