Dexter Tennis Wins Four of Five in Busy Week

The Dexter girls’ tennis team had a busy week with five matches and came away with four wins to remain near the top of the SEC White standings.

The Dreadnaughts opened the week with a pair of 8-0 sweeps of Adrian and Pinckney.

Lindsey Wiczorek (1), Tara Lessnau (2), and Avery Goodrich (3) each went 2-0 in the wins. Anya Johansen and Charlotte Bruderly teamed to pick up wins at two-doubles against Adrian and one-doubles against Pinckney.

Emma Hodder moved to doubles against Adrian and teamed with Sarah Penrose to win at one-singles against Adrian. Averi Rose teamed with Sefina Patterson against Adrian and Maria DeMerell Pinckney for a pair of wins. Penrose teamed with Chloe Sprague to win against Pinckney. Picking up a win at four doubles against Adrian was the team of Claudia Vanover and Chloe Sprague.

Dexter then took down South Lyon East 7-1 Wednesday.

Wiczorek, Goodrich, and Hodder picked up singles wins, while doubles wins went to Johansen/Bruderly, Penrose/Sprague, Rose/Maria DeMerell, and Lia DeMerell/Patterson.

The Dreadnaughts had a rough go of it Thursday as a strong Chelsea team took them down 8-0.

Dexter bounced back to beat White leading Jackson 6-2 Friday.

The match of the day was at one-singles where Wiczorek rallied after a 2-6 first set loss to win the second set 7-5 and the third-set tiebreaker 10-6 to claim the win.

Goodrich and Hodder also picked up singles wins, while doubles wins went to Penrose/Sprague, Rose/Maria DeMerell, and Lia DeMerell/Patterson.
