Dexter Baseball Remains on Top of SEC White

It wasn't easy, but the Dexter baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep of Adrian Monday to stay one game ahead of Tecumseh in the SEC White standings.

The Dreadnaughts bats struggled in the opener, but the pitching of Shay Ohtonen and Ethan Hochendoner kept the Maples in check as the Dreadnaughts pulled out a 3-1 win in the opener.

Adrian took a 1-0 lead in the first, but Dexter answered with an RBI single by Cole Arnedt to score Braeden Fuson to tie it at one.

Dexter took a 2-1 lead in the third when Joey Tessmer was hit by a pitch. He then stole second and scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-1.

Ohtonen kept the Maples in check and the Dreadnaughts got an insurance run in the sixth when Brennan Parachek singled. Parachek then stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-1.

Hochendoner came in to pitch the seventh and struck out he side to earn the save for Dexter.

Evan Krolewski added a double, while Davis Bennett and Jonathan Rosevelt chipped in with singles. 

Ohtonen struck out five and allowed three hits for the win.

A big six-run second inning sparked the Dreadnaughts to an 11-1 win in the second game.

Payton Hendricks started the second inning rally with an RBI single. Tessmer would drive in two with a double and Krolewski followed with a run scoring double and Parachek  an RBI single to make it 6-1 in the second.

Josh Sharp, Max Bielas, and James Pezda added RBI singles for the Dreadnaughts. Hochendoner chipped in with a single and Bennett an RBI. Hochendoner earned the win, striking out six and allowing one hit. 

Dexter improved to 13-1 in the SEC White.
