Dexter Pitchers Make it Four Straight No-Hitters
It is rare for a pitcher to pitch back-to-back no-hitter's , but the Dexter softball team has two pitchers that that has accomplished the feat this past week.
Brenna Cassidy and Paige Sayler made it two straight no-hitters for each after a doubleheader sweep of Adrian Monday.
Cassidy accomplished the feat in the opener striking out eight and walking two. The Dreads defense committed no errors behind Cassidy and the offense took care of business in the 11-0 win.
A six-run second inning gave the Dreads all the runs they would need behind Cassidy.
Sam Sutton smacked a two-run homer to lead the Dreadnaughts offense.
Cassidy helped her own cause with two hits and an RBI, while Sayler had a double and two RBI. Maddy Thompson had a hit and two RBI, Ella Mitchell a hit and RBI, Lillie Robeson a hit and two runs scored, and Kylee Niswonger and Camryn Chase a hit and run scored.
Sayler made it four straight no-no's for the Dreads with a 10- 0 win in the second game. Sayler struck out 17 and walked three in six innings of hitless ball. She helped her cause at the plate with a two-run homer and finished with two hits and two RBI.
Mitchell had a big game with three hits and three RBI, while Robeson had three hits and scored two runs. Jenna Wagenschutz had two hits and scored two, Thompson a double and two RBI, Cassidy a triple and two runs scored, Chase a hit and RBI, and Niswonger a hit.
The Dreadnaughts improved to 17-6 overall and 11-3 in the SEC White.
