NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

CITY OF DEXTER

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

Pursuant to Michigan Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended, notice is hereby given that the City of Dexter Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, September 19, 2022. The hearing will take place St. Andrew’s Fellowship Hall, 7610 Ann Arbor St, Dexter, Michigan. The purpose of hearing is to take public comments regarding the following variance application:

The applicant, Henry Rolfes, is requesting the following variance for property located at 3458 Broad Street (08-08-06-107-003):

  • A 6.5-foot variance from the 10-foot detached structure setback requirement in Section 3.02 of the City of Dexter Zoning Ordinance to allow for an addition to the existing garage.

The existing garage is a legally non-conforming structure. The proposed addition would be an expansion of a legally non-conforming structure. According to Section 4.05, sub-section E.2 non-conforming structures, in any zoning district, may be expanded only after approval by the zoning Board of Appeals, as provided in Section 24.05.F.

The applicant is requesting the variance due to practical difficulties associated with the property. If granted, a 3.5-foot setback from the detached accessory structure to the principal structure (single family dwelling) would be allowed for the addition.

The application is available for public inspection at the City Offices, 8123 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Dexter, MI 48130; weekdays between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any questions regarding the application should be directed to the Office of Community Development at 734-580-2233.

Public comment may be provided during the meeting, either in-person or virtually, or submitted in writing at city offices, located at 8123 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Mon-Fri 9:00 am to 5:00 pm or emailed to the Office of Community Development maniol@dextermi.gov. All comments must be received no later than close of business the day of the meeting.

Sign language interpreter, or other assistance, may be provided upon request to the City Clerk jbreyer@dextermi.gov, at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting. Minutes of all meetings are available on the City website, www.dextermi.gov.
