NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF AMENDMENTS TO THE

GENERAL CODE OF ORDINANCES

Notice is hereby given that the Dexter City Council adopted the following amendment to its Code of Ordinances at a Regular Meeting on Monday, November 28, 2022, which was called to order by Mayor Keough, at 7:00 pm.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Arab, Griffin, Hubbard, Michels, Semifero, Schlaff, Keough MEMBERS ABSENT: None

The City of Dexter hereby Ordains:

SECTION 1. Amendment to City of Dexter General Code of Ordinances, Chapters 18 and 62: An Ordinance to amend Chapter 18, Environment to delete Section 18-31(b), growth of lawn, noxious weeds, or other harmful plants over eight (8) inches in height; and to amend Chapter 62, Vegetation to add a new Article III, for the purpose of regulating the growth of lawn, noxious weeds, or other harmful plants over eight inches in height, as follows:

Article III – Grass and Weed Control

Sec. 62-50 62-50 Unlawful growth

Sec. 62-51 Responsibility of Owner and/or Occupant

Sec. 62-52 Enforcement Officer

Sec. 62-53 General notice by publication to owner, occupant to abate

Sec. 62-54. Specific notice by first class mail to owner to abate; civil infraction

Sec. 62-55. Abatement by city

Sec. 62-56 Penalty

SECTION 2. Repeal: Any Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with any of the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. Severability: The various parts, sections and clauses of this Ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. If any part, sentence, paragraph, section, or clause is adjudged unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder of the Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.

SECTION 4. Effective Date:
This Ordinance shall become effective upon publication of a notice in a newspaper circulated in the City, stating the date of the enactment and the effective date of the ordinance, a brief notice as to the subject matter of this ordinance, and such other facts as the City Clerk shall deem pertinent and that a copy of the ordinance is available for public use and inspection at the office of the City Clerk.
