Saline Softball Goes 5-0 on Week
The Saline softball team had a big week by going 5-0 and trying to stay in contention in the SEC Red standings.
The Hornets opened the week by sweeping Pioneer 12-2, 11-7.
Elaina Walker led the offense with three hits and a run scored, while Clara Cherry had two hits and three RBI. Abby Kleinschmidt had two hits an two RBI, while Emily Sweetland had two hits and three runs scored. Megan Guerard added a hit and two RBI and Sara Owens a hit and RBI. Walker earned the win striking out 10.
Grace Munn had a big second game against Pioneer with a home run, three hits and five RBI to lead Saline.
Owen added three hits and two RBI, Kleinschmidt and Cherry two hits each, and Sweetland a hit and RBI for the Hornets. Munn also earned the win on the mound striking out two.
Saline made quick work of Jackson May 12, scoring 10 in the first and 10 in the second for a 20-0 win over the Vikings.
Kleinschmidt had a huge game with three hits and seven RBI. Cherry added a hit and three RBI, Hailey Malinczak and Annie Milsoer a hit and two RBI each, Munn and Jillian Whitney a hit and RBI each.
Saline then swept Skyline 9-2 and 10-1.
Owen had two hits and an RBI, while Ava Hoffman had two hits and three runs scored. Karli Dorr and Kleinschmidt each had a hit and RBI. Walker struck out 11 and allowed three hits for the win.
Kleinschmidt went 4-4 with two RBI in the nightcap. Walker had three hits and a run scored, while Dorr had two hits and two RBI. Cherry had two hits and two runs scored and Sweetland a hit and RBI. Dorr struck out four for the win for the Hornets.
